We were very pleased to have made the breeding of Liesel and Sedric, and Marta is evidence that the combination worked!  Sedric daughters comprised the first place Senior Get of Sire at the 2004 ADGA National show! He is a line bred buck, whose bloodlines go back to Sunshine Stella’s Strike and Sunshine Robelta Rommel, top Alpines sires of the 1970’s on whom our early herd was based. His daughters in the One*Oak* Hill herd include Stiletto, FS 92 EEEE, Sihlvanna 3-0 90 VEEE, and Saphy, 2-7 89 EEEE as a first freshener.

Marta is an extremely tall and dairy doe, who taped 165 lbs at 18 months. Shown twice as a kid, Marta placed 1 X 2nd and 1 X 4th. Shown twice in 2006 as a dry yearling, Marta placed 1 X 1st, and 1X 3rd.  Marta freshened  in 2007 with a very well attached capacious mammary, very high in the rear, and well blended in the fore, with ideally placed teats. Her milk production as a first freshener has been phenomenal, maintaining a steady 13 lbs/day for the 1st 6 months of her lactation!  Perhaps because of her stature, as a first freshener she has seemed gawky, having some difficulty walking around her capacious mammary, so we elected to leave her home and let her mature this year. She appraised 89, the highest score allowed a first freshener; the appraiser's comment was that she is immature, but should be very impressive as she develops and fills out her body. We did take her to the final show of the season, where she placed 3rd.  Her daughter, Merry, by Limerick, is so impressive that we plan to repeat that breeding this season.
